Front spoiler for a 107
« on: April 08, 2009, 08:42:28 AM »
Excuse the photo from another supplier but I wanted to make sure we were discussing the correct part.  I need a replacement chin and lower grille  for my 1981 380SL.

Basically, everything below the front bumper.  When I removed the remaining parts that had not fallen off, there were two grilles, left and right, the metal 'chin' (which may or may not have been one piece before the rust) and a rubber spoiler lip at the bottom.

The competitor whose bandwidth I borrowed offers a one piece unit with all the hardware.  It is the 560 style which is a bit more aggressive than my 380 was.

Do you have something similar? I couldn't find it in the online catalog.

That's just a 560SL spoiler (as opposed to the less obvious 380SL spoiler), wrong part for your car, unless you like the look and want to invest in cosmetics. You'll still need lower grills and a valance, if they're broken. Whatchu wanna do? BTW, lower grills are R & L, which one or both? Valance is 3-piece, R, L, Center.

Should I give you a call?  I'm confused as they are showing a one piece unit in their catalog.  I can't find a picture of it online but it shows one complete valance with the lower grilles attached and the rubber lip underneath..

The lower grills are in the Performance Products pic, so is the bumper and the headlights, but they don't come with the spoiler, and neither does the valance.

Oh I see, I had forgotten that the lower grills are part of it, but not the metal valance (it's all plastic).

No, we don't have 560SL spoilers, we used to but can't get them any more. If Performance has some, jump on it.

You sure?  Go kick some of those boxes in the attic.  Maybe you missed one.  Rather buy from you.

Most of that stuff is dealer-only, but the 560SL spoiler was dealer NLA for a long time. If Mercedes brought it back, it's news to me. Current retail shows $354.

The guy said it was the last one.  I bought it.  I'll know more in 5 to 7 days, I suppose.
