HONEST mechanic needed
« on: April 26, 2009, 09:42:33 PM »
Hello Everyone!! New to site - (2006 E 350 71k miles) - I've been told by one mechanic that I need to replace torque converter - By another transmission and torque converter - Third said just seals in front and near bushings - No warning signs or previous problems with trans - just took off doing 5 miles per hr car shout down - Upon being lefted onto tow truck all transmission fluid leaked out - I'm in LA and would appreciate any recommendations on honest repair shops -THANK YOU!

the 722.9 (7 speed)  trans  was mechanically  a very good transmission. the only problem we had was issues with the control module  which in this case is mounted on the valve body  and not replacable without valve body. its a software  deal thatcaused many a TSB to be issued since this new trans was introduced in the SL in 02 (03 model yr)and when i left the dealership MB was barely able to finally get a handle on what was going on..i left in late 07 (as far as fluid leaking out id have to see that one myself) oh by the way there are no bands in this or the electronic 5speed used since modelyr97
