1988 300E fuel pump runs with fuel pump relay removed!
« on: October 26, 2009, 05:20:19 PM »
Hello, I was tracing the wiring from the cold start injector to the fuel relay to find out why the cold start valve would not work and and found that the fuel pump still runs without relay in place. Before that I had thought the ignition switch was bad when I would turn off key and pump and engine, srs and battery lights would stay on for a short period. Lights flicker and relay clicks before stopping on their own. How is pump getting voltage? Car is hard to start but runs good above 2000 rpm. Had to remove idle valve which clicks open for a few seconds to crank car. Will not idle. I thought relay was saftey device to stop pump. Car will be for my daughters first ride when I get it running right. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
