1972 MERCEDES 250 SEDAN, NEED FRONT LICENSE PLATE HOLDER
« on: February 19, 2009, 04:21:35 PM »
I have a 1972 Mercedes 250 Sedan (114) 4 door. I need the front license plate holder complete with all mounting hardware from car to bumper. I would accept new or good clean used. If you don't have one but know where there is one, please let me hear from you. Thanks to all!

Hi Gerry, welcome to the forum! Unfortunately, we cannot help with that item, since we do not have one. My best idea is this -- go to a local auto parts store and pick up one of those fancy chrome license plate frames. The frame should include a pot metal backing piece that mounts to your car and holds the plate and the frame. You can drill the backing piece to fit your car, mount the plate on it, and use the actual frame or not, as you like. That's the best thing to do with any old Benz that's been designed to hold a European plate.

I was able to go to the dealer and order a new OEM plate holder(U.S. style plate) for my '81, complete with all parts.  Shipping took 3 days.  I have a tutorial (with pics!) if anyone is interested.
