You know, I never watched a single episode of that show. No idea why.

To this day, I would have to say it was the finest TV series ever produced, head and shoulders above the rest. The show transports you to a different place and time in a way that I had never before experienced. The mixture of fact with fiction was done brilliantly, and sparked a keen interest in personal research to sort it all out. And the dialog, pure genius...

It didn't give you a 'born in the wrong century' kind of feeling, did it? I felt that way about 'Combat!' but only if I could be Sgt. Saunders.

Dunno if I'd go that far. It may have been a fun place/time to explore, but I wouldn't count on surviving the experience. There was no law at all in Deadwood, since it was not part of the U.S.

Frankly, I believe you in particular, would be drop-jaw memorized by the level of detail provided by Deadwood. A veritable candy store of historical minutia.

I don't know why but I am reminded of "The Outlaw Josey Wales" except for the language.

^ Deadwood comedy. Priceless.

The Outlaw Josey Wales, which I enjoyed, is a study of caricatures. Deadwood is a study of characters.

I can just see a couple of sunburned studio types sitting at a table in an L.A. eatery pitching the idea...

"Bubby, think Outlaw Josey Wales meets The Sopranos."

"Boffo!"

Thus explaining the complete lack of appreciation for "The Star Chamber" thread.

OK, so I've started watching the Sopranos, and I'm up to the tenth episode. I'm still looking for a Waffle House, but I did see Dig's car, the w210 wagon the Mrs. drives. That is all.

My whole purpose is to find the Waffle House. You said. I've now gotten through the first two seasons -- wafflelessly.

Get used to disappointment. Ever seen this movie?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxhglDElOu8

It's what led up to this scene that makes the difference.
